Patios Done Right

Custom patios for Long Beach backyards — pavers, flagstone, stamped concrete, and tile. We grade, base, and set so the patio drains right and stays flat for decades. From a small back-door landing to a full outdoor living room.

How We Work

Site walk, design, permit, build. One crew chief from start to cleanup.

1. Design and layout

We walk the yard, take measurements, talk through the use (dining, lounge, fire feature), and lay out the patio shape and material.

2. Grading and base

Proper sub-base, compaction, and drainage. The base is what determines whether a patio stays flat — we don’t skip it.

3. Set and finish

Pavers, flagstone, or poured concrete set to grade, edges restrained, joints swept, and a final clean.

When You Need Patios

A new patio is the right call when:

  • You want a true outdoor living room — defined space for dining, lounge, or a fire feature.
  • The current concrete slab is cracked or stained — pavers or flagstone can sometimes lay over it; major damage means tear-out.
  • You’re building an outdoor kitchen — the patio is the foundation under the BBQ, counters, and seating.
  • The yard floods or doesn’t drain — re-graded and properly drained pavers solve standing water.
  • You want to expand the usable yard — turning grass into a stable hardscape area you actually use.
  • You’re preparing to sell — a finished patio is one of the highest-ROI backyard upgrades.

We'll bring paver and flagstone samples to the yard so you can see them in your own light. Call: (562) 379-4372

When You Need Patios

What Affects the Cost of Patios

Patio pricing is per square foot. Depends on:

  • Square footage. Bigger patios use more material and base prep.
  • Material. Stamped concrete is most affordable; standard pavers are mid-range; flagstone and all types of pavers are premium.
  • Demo and prep. Removing old concrete, grading slope, or installing drainage adds to the scope.
  • Base depth. Patios over poor soil or near trees need deeper sub-base and compaction.
  • Edge and pattern detail. Soldier-course borders, custom patterns, and cut-stone edges add labor.
  • Access. Tight side-yard access (no truck access) means everything moves by wheelbarrow — slower and more expensive.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does a patio take?

Small patios are 3–7 days. Full backyard builds with grading, drainage, and large patios are 2–4 weeks.

Pavers or stamped concrete?

Pavers are more forgiving — they flex with the ground, can be lifted and reset, and don’t crack. Stamped concrete is one continuous look, less expensive per square foot, but cracks over time. We’ll talk through the right pick for your yard.

Will the patio drain?

Yes — proper grading slopes water away from the house. On problem yards we install French drains, channel drains, or dry wells as part of the build.

Can you build over the old slab?

Sometimes — if the slab is sound and at the right elevation, pavers can lay over it. Cracked or sunken slabs need tear-out.

Do I need a permit?

Most flat-grade patios under a certain area do not. Patios with structures (covers, kitchens, retaining elements) often do. We handle permits when required.
